The Dragon Inn
There is a large empty building in my town that used to be a Chinese Restaurant called The Dragon Inn. It's has been parked in the real estate listings while the structure falls into disrepair for many years. I am by no means a real estate expert, but this building has a great location, an outstanding view and a Je ne sais quoi charm that seems to be a cut above all other local offerings. Yet, it sits empty.

I have many great memories of the Dragon Inn while growing up in this area. They had a walnut chicken dish that I still look for on menus of other Chinese Restaurants. When we had something to celebrate we would head to the Dragon Inn for Volcano's. Volcano's were large rum drinks in a multicolored ceramic bowls shaped like a volcano. It would come with two straws but a right of passage was to fly solo.
It's sad to drive by and see it empty and cold year after year. It needs a rebirth .
Historically it was built as the mansion of a 19th-century industrialist named William R. Sheffield who owned the local paper mill.
