Book Cover: The Shotgun Kiss

Originally this book was published under the title "The Shotgun Start". The author, Mike Nettleton decided to change the title to "The Shotgun Kiss". We originally played with the idea of a lipstick among the golf stuff and shotgun shells. I borrowed a lipstick from my wife a took a few test shots. A lipstick kiss on the shotgun receiver worked better in the end.  

Since it's a still life, I had trouble getting everything to stand out for impact. I remembered messing around with HDR and decided to give that a try. I took three bracketed shots and processed them collectively. What a difference. Everything jumped off the page. I will keep this in mind for any future projects.
